I dinned in La menara using a Groupon voucher including 10 mezze,2 wine glasses each plus Moroccan mint tea and Baklawa.
the restaurant was very romantic and the staff were very welcoming,we were presented with a large platter of scrumptious mezzes followed by two others,to be fair the portions were the right size enough to keep your belly happy and the wine was just right for the mezze,in fact we ordered a bottle, the tea was very refreshing but don't put sugar because the Baklawa is very sweet indeed,we chose to sit on nice Moroccan sofas very cosy and relaxing,we were not at any time rushed to leave or pressurised to order more unlike some other restaurants.
I can't help but feel that some Groupon dinners expect too much probably for what they pay, after all I only spent £24 and after the night I had I can't moan.
Will definitely come back to try the sizzzzzzling tagines.

I purchased groupon voucher with great enthusiasm for a three course meal for 2 for £24 (reduced from £61). However neither the resturant or the meal was worth £24 let alone £61. The meal, which consisted of a small selection of cold starters, main being two spring role and two falafel and desert being backlava and mint tea, was extremely dissappointing. The protion barely enough for one. So we shared the two spring roles, one with cheese filling and one with meat. It was almost embarrasing. As for the starters I had tasted far better.
It is very dissapointing that what in fact was a a starter meal for one was being offered as a 3 course meal for two. I repeat the protion was barelty enough for one.
Apart from the dissappointment with the food, the resturant and its apperance was a let down also. I made the mistake of going downstairs to use the toilet. All I wish to say is that it was not a pretty sight and deffinitly one thats enough to put you off your meals there.
I would certainly not be going there ever again and would be far from recommending anyone to go there either. The food is poor, and there are serious hygiene issues.

Went there with my girlfriend not long ago, using a groupon voucher. Voucher offered CHOICE of 10 FULL hot and cold meze-s. On arrival the boss, Rashid just brought us a plate of 8 vegetarian meze-s all of them could easily fit on ONE plate. It was followed by another 2 hot mezes, and it was all about the 10 mezes. Portion-wise it was only tasting samples of each- WITHOUT the choice, apart from one, all vegetarian.
We tried quite a few different restaurants before through groupon, already been back to some since we really enjoyed them BUT THIS ONE WAS A LIE! We felt cheated because didn`t get what we paid for and all Rashid could say was- what do you expect for this much money?!
Well, I would expect what I was told to get nothing more but nothing less either! If that`s the way a manager thinks about the clients- very disappointing! WE WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE COMING BACK OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!

Worst food ever, bad service, bad experience all round!
Booked voucher for what was supposed to be a Morrocan banquet, was sorely disappointed. Wont be coming back and will add my review to food websites.

I have been to La Menara twice now and both times were fantastic. First time was a work do and I was so impressed that I decided to book a table for my birthday, a group of 20 - the food was great, atmosphere was great and the owner/manager was very helpful from the moment I booked to us leaving the restaurant.
I would definitely recommend La Menara

La Menara, is a real ‘secret’ Moroccan experience, with flavorsome food in very comfortable surroundings. There are interesting choices of freshly cooked, tasty and very enjoyable Moroccan food at ‘La Menara’. You are sure of a great welcome and personal service from the manager Rachid and his staff. The ambiance is interment and you will immediately feel comfortable and welcomed, whether it’s a venue for a romantic evening for two or a table of colleagues out to share and taste a large ‘Mez’. The ambiance created by paintings, rugs, lanterns and the traditional music and aromas provides for a real ‘carpet ride’ trip to ‘Marrakesh’ whilst only being a few hundred yards from Portland Place or Goodge Street Underground. On every occasion I have found the food well prepared, different, wholesome and fresh the Lamb Tagine being my special favorite. Along with a Moroccan lager called “Casablanca” and finished off with a real fresh Mint tea or spiced Moroccan sweet coffee, the evening will be a time to enjoy and a pleasant memory of ‘La Menara’. I’m off to enjoy La Menara again… Anthony 2012
